Change is Uncomfortable

Change is often uncomfortable. It’s like a whirlwind, that disrupts the order of things when it passes a place. Uncertainty and the fear of the unknown usually accompany it. When change occurs, some will bury their heads in the sand as a coping mechanism while a few brave souls will consider it a chance to learn and grow. These kinds of people understand that whenever change graces you with its presence, it seldom leaves without sharing valuable lessons.

Each season of change carries with it opportunities for development even when it’s as cold as winter, and everything appears to be falling apart. As some would say ‘What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger’. Though I must admit, the ‘stronger’ part is purely a function of your willingness to find that inner strength. The ‘learning’ is a process and therefore, is rarely an overnight accomplishment. There are no shortcuts; to develop, you must be willing to do the work and embrace the change that comes with it.

I remember in 2013 when I became a mother for the first time; it was a significant moment that transformed my life forever. Suddenly I had this little human being who was dependent on me for everything, 24/7. I will admit the first year was very challenging for me as I had many moments of self-doubt and feeling as if I was failing at motherhood. Instead of drowning in self-despair, I embraced the change and learned to pick myself up whenever I stumbled. It was not easy, but worth every effort. Now, seven years down the line, I can safely say becoming a mother ushered me into a different but precious phase of my life. I am not the same person I was before; I have matured, and I like to think I am a better version of myself than I was yesterday.

As I wrap it up, I leave you with this simple message; Change is Inevitable. To embrace or to resist, is entirely up to you. Unlike Thanos from The Avengers, you can not snap it out of existence with your two fingers once its time has come!

I would love to here from you!
